What an awesome day! I worked out my chest and triceps:and KILLED it!!!! I ate amazing food today, and still stayed under my weight watchers points! I stepped on the scale to see a 3.8 pound loss for the past week. Woot!
PattyCakes got off of work super early, so we picked up The Bug and went grocery shopping for dinner, which Patty said he would cook.
Blackened shrimp. Jasmine rice. Cajun corn on the cob. I am the luckiest woman alive!
Have you ever wondered how to clean a cast iron without ruining it or having to re-season it? I always did, and the thought scared me so much that I never got one until recently. But it turns out that it’s super-duper easy!
Once your skillet is nice and smooth, rinse it briefly with some hot water (don’t use cold, or your pan may warp) then put it back on a burner on high heat to make the water evaporate. Once it has evaporated, turn off the burner, put some high heat oil in the pan (I use either vegetable or canola, I don’t know if that’s textbook, but it works for me!), and rub it around until all used parts of the pan are coated.
And you are left with a beautifully seasoned and clean skillet. I love love love my cast iron; I don’t know what I would do without it!
Until my next adventure,
